Ann Curry

Ann Curry was born in the US and works as an accomplished photographer as well as a journalist. Since more than 45 years she has focused her work on reporting human suffering, primarily in natural disasters and wars. Curry has written about the conflict zones of Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Her reporting stood out for its coverage of humanitarian crises occurring in war-torn nations and natural disasters. Curry was born in Japan and was raised by an Japanese mom. Her father was a U.S. Navy sailor. Her father dated her mother in Japan when he was a stationed in Japan following World War II. Because of her father's military service, the family relocated often. Curry graduated from high school at Ashland Oregon. The University of Oregon awarded her a bachelor of arts in journalism. She started a new career path that would lead to a lucrative career by working as a broadcasting intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford. She was the first female news correspondent at this station at the age of 22. Later, she moved into the position of an anchor and reporter for KGW an NBC station in Portland, Oregan. After four years of service, she was appointed a reporter by KCBS TV which is located in Los Angeles. Two Emmy Awards were won during the six years she worked for KCBS-TV.
